One of the Leap2A categories

This category scheme is to distinguish the different broad kinds of people, in terms of their role relationship to the portfolio holder and their portfolios. It is slightly easier to distinguish people this way than by actual link relationships between person entries, though this other approach may be used in the future. It is recommended for use with entries of type person.

A person entry can be associated with one or more terms from this scheme. For example, one person could be both a referee and a mentor. Use e.g.

<category scheme="categories:person_type#" term="Guardian" label="Parent" />

or in full, without CURIEs,

<category scheme="http://wiki.leapspecs.org/2A/categories/person_type#" term="Guardian" label="Parent" />

In every case, the label attribute may be used to give a relevant term as used in the exporting system's user interface.

Contents

Assessor

a person who assesses any of the present portfolio information

This is more appropriate to summative than to formative assessment. Formative assessment is more likely to be through a Mentor. A single person could play both Assessor and Mentor roles, but the roles themselves differ.

Friend

anyone in a peer group of the portfolio holder

This includes class mates and co-workers.

Guardian

parent, guardian, carer, etc.

This person might have a right, for younger children, to see or possibly to edit portfolio information on behalf of the child.

Mentor

anyone in a supportive supervisory or advisory role to the holder

This includes teacher, tutor, manager. The emphasis of the relationship is offering the holder support, help, advice, guidance, or similar.

Other

a person who clearly does not fall into any of the other categories

Atom's label attribute should be used to give a human-readable indication of any other category assigned by the exporting system that does not fit with the given ones.

Referee

a person who can be referred to for confirmation of, or further detail about, at least some of the portfolio information

Self

the portfolio holder, to whom all the portfolio information relates

If the person type categories are used at all, there should be exactly one person with the "Self" category.

Unclassified

belonging to any or none of the other categories, but is not "Self"

This category is optional, for where the exporting system is unable to determine which of the given categories the person is in. Nevertheless, it should not be used in place of "Self". The label attribute may be used to give a human-readable indication of any other category assigned by the exporting system that does not fit with the given ones.

This is the default category for any items of type person who are not identifiable as the portfolio holder.
